Our Vision
A place for birds — and birders — for generations to come
Protected land, a simple welcoming place to watch birds, and room for the next generation of birders to fall in love with the Lowcountry.

Why it matters now
As development rages on, very few places remain where the public can simply go and watch birds — and fewer still where guided tours can be held without restrictions.
Our ultimate goal is to obtain land, preferably donated, and permanently protect it through a conservation easement with a land trust. On it, we’ll create a simple, welcoming place for birders and guests — preserved for generations to come.
Meanwhile, interest in birds has never been higher. About 96 million Americans — 37% of people 16 and older — consider themselves birders, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and birding has boomed since 2020 as people look to nature to unplug.

What We Hope to Build
Plans for a future site
Open-air pavilion
A simple interpretive center telling the story of declining bird populations, celebrating conservation success stories, and showing which birds to expect each season.
Interpretive trail signs
Weatherproof signs sharing the history of the area and the stories of the birds that live here.
Life-size Bald Eagle nest
A to-scale eagle nest on the ground so visitors can appreciate the size of nature’s greatest builders up close — a first for South Carolina.
Walks, seminars & outings
A home base for bird walks, school field trips, seminars and visits from traveling birders.
Help make it happen
Have land to conserve, ideas to share or want to be part of building this? We would love to talk.
